- College Board, in partnership with College Board's A Dream Deferred Conference, is hosting Real Talk: HBCU Edition on March 3-4. Students will be able to connect with admission representatives from HBCUs all over the country. Registration information can be found here.
- ENGAGE Youth Theology Initiative is a pre-college program offered by Lipscomb that is a deep dive into theology and contemporary issues. It will take place July 9-16. Information can be found here. The application can be found here.
- The City of Memphis Office of Youth Services is offering the "I AM INCLUDED" Program. This program equips Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Blind/Visually Impaired, and students with Intellectual Disabilities the opportunity to receive Financial Literacy, College and Career Planning, Computer Literacy, Leadership Development, and Life Skills while earning a monthly rewards based stipend. During the summer, students are also able to participate in a paid 3 week Leadership Camp. The application can be found here. This year, the program is 100% virtual.
- Sweet Briar College is hosting a series of immersive engineering design courses for high school sophomore, junior, and senior girls called Explore Engineering. Information can be found here.
- Boston University's Academy of Media Production is offering a collegiate experience for high school students to allow them to develop their cinematic and journalistic skills. The dates are July 6 to July 31, and information can be found here.
- Memphis Challenge is a program that coaches high-achieving students of color through leadership and professional development. The program is available to students in grades 9 - 12. Students are invited to find more information and to apply here. The application deadline is April 26.
- Boston University is hosting several programs for high school students through Boston University Summer Term. Information on these programs can be found here.
- The National Institute of American History and Democracy at William and Mary is offering a Pre-College Program in American History. The first session is June 21 - July 11, and the second session is July 12 - August 1. Information can be found here.
- The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine is currently accepting applications for the 2020 Veterinary Summer Experience Program. Information can be found here. Applications must be electronically submitted by March 1. Supplemental materials must be postmarked by March 7.
- WashU's Olin Business School is offering a summer program for women who want to learn more about leadership development and business opportunities the week of July 12-18. Information on Bold@Olin can be found here.
- Rhodes College is hosting a Summer Writing Institute for high school students in June. Information can be found here.
- The University of Virginia offers a week long summer program called The Cornerstone Summer Institute the week of June 20 to 26. Information on the program and how to apply can be found here. Applications will be accepted through April 1.
- The University of Pennsylvania offers Penn Summer High School Programs to high school students. Information can be found here. The application deadline is May 1.
- St. Jude Children's research Hospital is inviting students between the ages of 16 and 18 to consider the Summer Volunteer program at St. Jude. Information can be found here. The program is highly competitive. St. Jude encourages applicants to get parents and teachers to review the application instructions prior to submission.
- Princeton University is offering the Princeton Summer Journalism Program (information found here) from July 31 to August 10. The PSJP is a free residential journalism and college preparatory program for high achieving current juniors from low-income backgrounds who are interested in journalism. The deadline to apply is February 17, and application information can be found here.
- Lehigh University is offering Lehigh University Summer Academy - a three week pre-college residential program for rising 6th through 11th grade students. Information can be found here.
- Harding University Departments of Chemistry and Engineering and Physics are hosting NASA Day at Harding on January 27. Information about the event can be found here. There will be a special presentation the evening of the 27th by Dr. Douglas Terrier, NASA's Chief Technologist, titled "Forward to the Moon: The NASA Artemis Program." This presentation will be live streamed here.
- The College of Engineering at Auburn University offers engineering summer camps for students in grades 5 through 12. Information can be found here.
- Auburn University is hosting E-Day (annual engineering open house) on February 28. Information can be found here.
- The University of Tennessee Knoxville College of Architecture and Design is hosting a week-long summer camp called Design Matters. Information can be found here.
- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Gary W. Rollins College of Business is hosting an event called Empower Your Future: a forum on women in Finance and Economics for young adults. It will be on February 12 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the UTC University Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Information can be found here.
- Washington University in St. Louis offers several summer program opportunities for students. Information can be found here.
- The Memphis NAACP will be conducting the local Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO)for high school students. All first place winners in the local competition will receive an all expense paid trip to the National ACT-SO competition in Boston. Information can be found here. - Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy is offering Bulldog Pharmacy Camp June 21-26, 2020. This camp is designed for students who have an interest in pharmacy. It is open to rising high school juniors, seniors, and entering college freshman. Application information can be found here, and applications are due by February 1, 2020.
- Information is available for the 2020 Summer Term High School Programs at Boston University. They offer five pre-college programs that are designed to be rigorous and collaborative in order to help students realize their potential. Information on these sessions can be found here.
- The University of Chicago's Summer Session is available to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors. This program offers students the opportunity to explore subjects and questions that go beyond the typical high school curriculum. Application information can be found here. - Oklahoma Christian University offers an Honors Summer Academy. Information about the program is available here. Students who apply by December 31 will receive a $50 discount.
- Stanford University offers a variety of options in the Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies summer program. The programs offered cover a wide variety of subjects and allow students the chance to learn about topics not typically taught in secondary schools. Information about the programs can be found here.
- Duke University has several Summer Offerings for high school students. Information on Summer College (grades 10-12) can be found here. Information on Summer Academy (grades 9-12) can be found here. Information on Accelerated STEM Academy (grades 9-12) can be found here.
- The Lott Leadership Institute for High School Students 2020 program (housed by the University of Mississippi) states its purpose as being "committed to inspiring thoughtful engagement with public policy and cultivating the next generation of civic-minded leaders." The program is open to juniors in high school. Students who have an interest in applying should see Mrs. Banker in the Harding Academy counseling office prior to December of this year.
- Harding University is offering a two-week Honors Symposium this upcoming summer (2020). It is available to students who have completed their junior year in high school. Sessions will be offered June 19 - July 3, June 26 - July 10, July 3 - July 17, July 10 - July 24. More Information can be found here.
- Current freshman, sophomores, and juniors are encouraged to look into the National Student Leadership Foundation's National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC). Students who attend will have many opportunities including the chance the meet national and world leaders, experience hands-on training in a future career, and experience life on a college campus while earning college credit. Students interested in this program should contact the Harding Counseling Office no later than December 1 to request information about a nomination.
- Current freshman, sophomores, and juniors who have an interest in law or CSI are encouraged to look into the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Law & CSI, an Envision program that will be held in Washington, D.C. during the summer of 2020. Students will have the opportunity to speak with experts in these fields as well as receive hands on experience. Students who have an interest in this program should contact the Harding counseling office by October 31 to request information about a nomination.
