Things to Remember:

All sophomores and juniors will take the PSAT Wednesday, October 16. Mrs. Banker went into classes with the sophomores and juniors last week to discuss this test and to distribute PSAT Student Guides. A pre-administration session was held with the sophomores and juniors today during homeroom to allow students to fill out the demographic portion of their answer sheet before the day of the test. Students who were absent need to email the counseling office to make up this session. A few reminders about the PSAT:
Both students and educators look forward to fall break - a time for families to get away together, a time to relax and read a favorite book, a time to get outdoors and enjoy fall, and a time to slow down and recover from a busy start to the school year. Fall Break is also an excellent time to direct your attention to college planning tasks that you have been too busy to focus on the past few months. Check out our list below of things you can do Fall Break to keep yourself on track with your college planning. Make a list now of things you want to do (and not do) to make your Fall Break just the break you need.
Best-selling author Simon Sinek was interviewed on Millennials and said something startling. According to Sinek, the use of social media has the same effect as drinking, smoking or gambling. It is addictive. The same chemical, dopamine, is released in us when we hear the ping of social media. The students we hosted in our focus groups last year agreed—they’re addicted. Interestingly, we have age restrictions on drinking, smoking and gambling—but not on social media. Anyone can use it.

We hope you’ll join us on Thursday, September 5, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at our Cherry Road Campus. Register to attend this event by clicking the button below.
